COMMUNITY LUNCH
"One of the unique things about this is that it isn't just serving the poor, or it isn't just serving the wealthy. It's for everybody in the community -- churched, not churched, business people, famers, homeless people. Everybody"
-Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church
The Community Lunch serves a free hot meal to our guests every Thursday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in the parish hall. Our mission is simple: to provide a healthy, delicious meal to everyone who arrives on our doorstep. We usually host over a hundred people, of all ages and backgrounds.
You are invited to join us this Thursday. We provide a great way to make new friends or to spend time with familiar faces.
The Community Lunch is staffed by a crew of volunteers from all backgrounds. New volunteers are always needed. If you'd like to become part of the crew, please contact Terry Transue.
We rely on food and financial donations from throughout the area to make the Community Lunch happen. If you have food you would like to donate, please contact us via email or at 919-542-5679. If you would like to offer financial support, please do so via our donations page. Donations of all sizes are enthusiastically welcomed.
Community groups are also invited to sponsor a Thursday lunch, either financially, with a crew of volunteers, or both. The Community Lunch is made possible by the generosity and dedication of many.
You can read more about our Community Lunch in this article from the News & Observer or in this article from the North Carolina Disciple. We're happy to see that the Community Lunch has developed a statewide reputation, but, most of all, we're happy to feed and build our community.
